ACME Bread – French Baguette

Ever since I found this bread I feel like I’m having a mad love affair with this beautiful creation.  When I first saw the movie “French Kiss” I have been dreaming of the day I’ll be eating the bread I have seen Kate (Meg Ryan) consumed in a train on her way to Cannes to win her fiancé back.  Kate wakes up and proceeds in the dining car eating French cheese with fresh French baguette.  As she breaks a piece of bread, you can hear the crunch of the bread as she cuts a piece of either goat cheese/camembert and places it on top of the bread, Kate takes a bite and has a look of contentment in her face.  All of a sudden Kate yells out “Spasm! Spasm! Oh, God, here it comes… lactose intolerance!”  That scene is so memorable and I have been dreaming of eating the same type of bread. When I was in Paris I never ate so much French bread that I have been looking for the same texture and taste here in the U.S.  I can’t believe I finally found it here after many years of searching….thank you ACME Bread for getting me reunited to this beautiful bread.  It’s so beautiful to look at and the smell is out of this world.

Before leaving for Easter Vigil mass, I took out a Petit Camembert cheese out of the fridge so that when we get home from church it will be room temperature.  I just have to warm the bread and smear the cheese.  Boy it was sooo good that I was savoring every single bite and I was tempted to open a bottle of Chardonnay or Cabernet Sauvignon but decided not to and wait another time.  This was orgasmic!!!!!  Mom and I ate it without saying a word just relishing the moment.  I want more and need to control myself.  I have to leave some bread for tomorrow…I’m thinking of having prosciutto, bruschetta and Sangiovese wine.  Until next time and hope it is soon….
