So many sandwiches to choose from and wanted to try them all. I decided to try Caesar Sandwich on Ciabatta bread. The bread was toasted so on the first bite you can hear the crunch and bits of crumb fall on the basket. Chicken breast was moist; Caesar dressing was not too salty, very creamy and right amount of Asia go cheese.
The Moussaka had a layer of potato, ground beef, eggplant and thick layer of béchamel. This was very bland, too much nutmeg in the béchamel sauce, could not taste tomatoes and most of all the key ingredient eggplant was barely noticeable.
At Yanni’s I purchased the following: falafel in pita bread, onion rings, spanakopita, and moussaka (this will be eaten the following day, today’s Friday observing Lent season no meat), and the total came out to $19.45 with coupon I spent $14. 95, not bad.
On a daily basis I read Yahoo news…today I stumbled in the article 25 Most Common Cooking Mistake
The flavor of the bell peppers, stock, tomato, oregano, cumin and Spanish olives really comes through. It definitely tastes good after two days
Since there was another baguette, I promised her that I will make her appetizer along with salad for dinner after my spin class. This time I sprinkled dried basil leaves when I melted the cheese. I of course drank sauvignon blanc with the meal. It was so delicious that I almost ate the entire appetizer leaving her with 3 appetizers.
Well this was not going to be another Sunday….I finally caught on, Dawn was on her way to the Bay Area. This call truly changed my day!!! We discussed going out to dinner and I suggested that I prepare dinner since I always want my family to taste the food that I make. It’s not very often when I have a couple of hours to purchase the ingredients and prepare a feast for them. SO EXCITED!!!!! To have them review the food. Dawn and I decided I will make Ropa Vieja, Cuban black beans, fried plantains, salad, and bruschetta and pair the food with Cosentino 2003 Sangiovese IL Chiaretto.
I decided to go to Whole Foods, another favorite store I like to get lost in…Wow!! They have bread made of whole wheat flour, will have to try it…whole wheat walnut bread. As I walked around the food court I noticed they had curried chicken salad and purchased a half a cup along with sweet and spicy quinoa salad.
My body is not in the right frame of mind, taste buds do not cooperate, etc… I had a temperature of 100.5 and bones aching. So for the past couple of days, I have been having toast, a little soup, tea, and lots of fruits. I have not gone to the gym and having withdrawals.
I am thinking to myself, so far so good….but then I could not control the car and to my surprise found myself at Sweet Affair Bakery purchasing two red velvet cupcakes with cream cheese frosting.
Back to eating whole grain oats, non fat milk, blueberries, and portion control…..have to reduce wine consumption. The weather was so nice today that I should have gone for a bike ride…
I decided to go Ranch 99….purchasing Peking duck, green onions, and top ramen. I did not want to eat just noodles tonight and decided to add Peking duck, broccoli, sugar snap peas, and thinly sliced green onions. You can always jazz up top ramen noodles by adding all sorts of ingredients. If you have last minute dinner guest joining you, you can make this. You don’t have to let them know that you opened a package of ramen noodles. Let them think you slaved hours creating this soup. It will be your secret…
